This university is recognized as Iran's only specialized postgraduate institution. In 1982, it began admitting students in fields such as management and certain humanities disciplines. In 1986, the institution was upgraded from Tarbiat Modares School to Tarbiat Modares University and expanded its activities to include 171 master’s degree programs and 132 doctoral programs. Currently, the university comprises 17 faculties, 14 research institutes, a research center, a science and technology park, and the Noor International Campus.

 

Tarbiat Modares University is unique in Iran as it does not admit undergraduate students and only offers master’s and doctoral programs. With its distinguished faculty and robust academic programs, the university consistently ranks among the top universities in Iran.

 

The university also publishes several specialized academic journals, with the International Journal of Humanities being one of the most notable publications of Tarbiat Modares University. To date, the university has registered an impressive 3,794 patents.

Tarbiat Modares University Admission Requirements

 

Applicants must fill out the application form in English or Farsi and submit it along with the required documents. Please include two valid contact numbers on the application form. PhD applicants must specify the exact type of their program (research-based or taught/research-based). 

 

All submitted documents must be valid, have high resolution, and be in Persian or English. Education degrees obtained outside of Iran must be approved by the Iranian embassy in the respective country before submission. Translated documents must be accompanied by a valid university seal and signature.

Tarbiat Modares University Costs and Tuition Fee

 

Estimated monthly living expenses for a university student in Tehran range from $128 to $280. This includes transportation within the city (approximately $60 per month, including $10 for taxis), accommodation costs varying significantly depending on the chosen option (university dormitories or other approved dormitories, ranging from $25 to $100 per month), food expenses (estimated between $25 and $100 per month, primarily for meals at university restaurants), and health insurance ($8-10 per month).

 

After acceptance, you must pay the tuition prepayment for the first semester. For international MSc students, the tuition fees are as follows: €3,000 for Law and Humanities, €4,000 for other faculties (except Medical Sciences), and €5,000 for Medical Sciences. For PhD programs, the approved tuition fees for four years are €8,000 for Humanities and Law, €10,000 for other faculties (except Medical Sciences), and €13,750 for Medical Sciences.
